Blanca Isabel Purple Rice is a distinctive long grain variety developed in Louisiana by LSU rice pathologist Dr. Milton C. Rush. It cooks and tastes much like everyday long grain white rice, but its natural purple-black hull-free grain turns a vivid purple hue once cooked.
The color comes from anthocyanins, the same class of antioxidant pigments found in blueberries, green tea and red wine. This 3 lb bag is a fun way to add visual interest and a subtly nutty flavor to rice bowls, sides and mixed dishes.
